Tour de cycle race off to Sukhar

RAHIM YAR KHAN : The 15th tour de Pakistan International cycle race left for Sukhar from here on Wednesday morning in its eighth stage.

DCO RY Khan Dr Ahmad Javed Qazi, members division sports committee Bahawalpur Haji Anwar Ali and Akbar Ali Shaheen, along with a number of people belonging to various sports organizations, saw off the cyclists participating in the race.

The race will cover a distance of 178 km from RY Khan to Sukhar which is the second largest span of the race.

Successful cyclist of seven stages, Muhammad Sabir of Sui Southern Gas Company was awarded to wear 'yellow jersey' before the departure to Sukhar.

Earlier, district administration organised a ceremony in the honour of cyclists of the race in which district sports committee distributed cheques of Rs 2000 each and shields among cyclists and their officials.

Addressing on the occasion, organizing secretary of the race Idress Haider Khawaja said this sport event had the honour of the second longest race in the world.
